March Normalcy: Taking a break from the madness this month.

Ashley GattaSpring break, anyone? Finally a relief from March (or all of 2012) madness! I apologize for being “off the radar” last month, but life has gotten BUSY! As most of you know, I’m teaching PE at an elementary school, leading worship at Legacy Presbyterian in Frisco, and moonlighting as a rockstar, lol. As you can imagine, it’s hard to juggle all these hats, but they are all super fun hats, so at least I enjoy wearing them ;) Thanks for your patience, and for bearing with us as we slowly but surely make music for you!

I know what you’re thinking. I’ve teased you with this before. Raised money, played new songs, recorded YouTube videos, but you have yet to receive a new album since our Christmas, EP, Still Melting, that we released in the fall of 2010. Well, God has shown favor on us, and we are just months away from tracking our new album!
We will be working with Grammy Award winning producer and engineer, Eric Delegard at Reeltime Audio, and we couldn’t be more excited about it! He’s worked with artists like Cross Canadian Ragweed, Bowling for Soup, Brave Combo, and Radial Angel just to name a few. His expertise behind the board combined with the songs and musicians we’re bringing to the table are going to make one phenomenal record. We can’t wait to get started, and to bring you along for the ride!

In other news, I’ve been doing a lot of cowriting with local artist, Aryn Michelle. We debuted an original song at an Art House Dallas dinner not long ago, and after a positive response, we’re excited to record a demo to share with you, soon!

‘Twas the Season

Hope your Christmas was Merry, your New Year’s Eve spent with someone you love, or at least kind of like, and that you’re off to a good start on all of those resolutions.

I’ve hung my ugly Christmas sweater back in the closet where it belongs, and am pumped about 2012! If you were following the band last year, you know we are working towards recording a new album. We didn’t reach our fundraising goal of $8,000 but we’re going to press on and make the best album we can with what we have, and what we continue to raise.

As promised, Bert and Austin have shaved their beards as a result of our funds not being raised. There have even been reports of Bert wearing a scarf since then…say it isn’t so!

Our 2012 resolution is to continue making great music for YOU so we’re thankful, as always, for your support and encouragement, and we look forward to more shows in more cities, with brand new songs and a brand new album!

If you’d like Ashley Gatta & The Free People to come play a show in your city or at your church, please send an email  to me with a request! We’d love to make it happen.
